‘Tis the Season!
What is this season truly about? Gift giving, parties, decorating and all sorts of fun are definitely part of this special time of year.
It is also a chance to show our children it is the season of forgiveness, of love for those who have much less than we have, for the light to shine on more human beings, for helping abandoned animals, for repairing climate change, and so much more.
How can each one of us do something to model and even involve our children in learning the true messages and reasons for these celebrations? Bake some treats for a neighbor who may be struggling, visit folks in a nursing home, help to deliver or serve meals on Christmas, raise funds for children coming out of Ukraine or other war torn areas of the world. Pick your charity or have the children pick one.
This is a special time of year to learn lessons of humility and humanity. What truly makes this season special is what we can do for those we love and those we may never meet. Teach your children well and they will someday pass it on to their own children.
