Welcome to the Snow Much Fun Softball Tournament founded in 2008. 2009's tournament will take place on January 24 & 25 at Lebanon High School. The tournament is a double elimination coed tournament with a $200 entry fee. Please see the rules below for specific rules.
Beginning in 2009 all proceeds will go to help the Prevent Child Abuse Organizations. The tournament will be sponsored by The Boss Snow Plow and Springfield Auto Mart. Child Abuse happens far too often, yet is a cause that isn't always thought of when people want to help others. This tournament gives people a chance to help abused children, while having the fun of playing softball in an unorthodox manner.
The first year of the tournament featured 9 teams from New Hampshire and Vermont that gathered to help raise funds for Brianna Beland and her family.
The tournament took place on January 26 & 27, 2008 at Lebanon High School in Lebanon, NH. Brianna and her parents found out that at only 2 years old she was about to embark on a battle against Leukemia. Through the efforts of the teams who braved the cold and snow over $7600 dollars were raised
Snow Much Fun Softball Tournament Rules:
* Teams will consist of at least 4 women and no more than 10 total players.
Most teams will use 6 men and 4 women.
* No EH's
* For most games, teams will umpire their own games. We expect people
to get a long while doing this and do it in an adult manner.
* For those who dont' like having to umpire their own games, please volunteer
to ump other games. If we get enough volunteer umps, we won't have to
have teams do their own games.
* We will use 12" yellow softballs for both men and women. (This may be
different for our sister tournament in Potterville, Michigan)
* You can not bat more than two players of the same sex in a row.
* At bats are one pitch.
* Teams pitch to their own players, batters must swing at everything. There
are no walks. Pitchers do not field the ball.
* You can select anybody to pitch to your team, including players from other
teams that are just standing around. Just be aware when selecting your
pitcher(s) you have to swing at everything.
* Wood bats only, they will be provided for you. Do not bring your own.
* Games are 6 innings long.
* Double elimination.
* Teams will play at full strength for the first inning of extra innings.
In the 2nd inning of extra innings teams will remove two men from the field. All subsequent extra innings will involve teams removing one male and one female.
All batters will remain in the line up, the players removed are only removed from the field. Once a player is removed from the field in extra innings they may NOT reenter for defensive purposes.
* Teams that are shorthanded may pick up players from other teams. While
the hope is all teams will bring enough players for their team, this is a
charity event and we do not want to lose entry fees because teams are
short of players.
* If a team does play short a female, they have an automatic out in their place
in the line up. If they are short a male, there is no automatic out in the line
up.
* Metal spikes are NOT allowed, exceptions will not be made. This is for
safety purposes.
* Teams may use courtesy runners for injured players only. The runner is
the last out of the same sex.
* These games are played on school grounds, therefore alcohol is prohibited.
Anyone seen with alcohol will be told to throw it away and is subject for
removal from the property. This is expected by the school board to be
strongly enforced on our part and we must comply with it.
* If you have any questions please feel free to ask Rick or Tiffany Currier.
* Captains, please control your teams and make sure the reason the
touranment is being played is understood. We are helping abused children,
no world series rings or major league contracts are on the line. Lets keep it
fun and remember the tournaments purpose.
