Care for Kids

Care for Kids (CFK) is a fun, health-based curriculum for children from 3-7 years old.  This well-researched curriculum helps adults understand the link between healthy sexuality education and child sexual abuse prevention.  It contains 6 units- Bodies, Babies, Feelings, Touching, Bedtime, and Secrets/Surprises.  Each unit teaches and reinforces 2 to 4 simple, age-appropriate messages via a circle time, a song, a book, and an activity or craft.  This initial 2- hour training is for child care providers and early childhood educators.  After the initial training, if the provider/educator decides to use the curriculum, PCAV holds a parent training to orient them to the new curriculum, and answer their questions. Parents also discuss children’s normal sexual development and ways of fostering healthy sexuality in their child. Answering children’s questions, ways to help children learn to nurture and express empathy toward others, and adult responsibility for keeping children safe are also important components of the parent training.
